We have robots, soon all of us.
What might we do with these robots?
A robot followed me around New York to carry my stuff
The company is also working on a mode to have it park outside a store and wait for you.
We build a robot to make our buying of more even easier?
Doomed. Or worse.
We arrive here from those 1950s movies where the plucky boy steals aboard a rocket to Mars only we are the shiny “computer” with a spinning tape wheel, dutifully maintaining order until the heroes become necessary.
We each carry a supercomputer in our hand and use it, not to boldly go, but for the standard travails of the day. Not that there’s anything wrong with that! I suppose. But it does seem that we are letting down both our own tools and the future’s future.
Look! A robot! Carrying her wares from Macy’s mezzanine!
I really thought we’d be further along than this by now.
So much power, so little potential.
Speak! Your wish is my command!
“Alexa, please buy more Tide detergent.”
I guess that’s magic.
Shouldn’t we be doing more? Achieving more? Daring more? Braving more? Has the drive for more been corrupted, stolen, by consumption? Or has consumption made us believe that more is always the answer?
I write about Apple and ontological uncertainty. It’s a helpful mix.
How can it be, still, now, in the second decade of the 21st century, that some of our better minds earn their living by cheerleading for a corporation?
Here’s an analyst mocking those who dare suggest Apple is doomed or the iPhone is doomed or Mac is doomed when in fact — hail, insight — the world is doomed but Apple remains! Triumphant!
The ethos of Apple is rigid so why is perception about the company so fickle?
If the graph above reflects perception about a constant entity then perhaps it charts how the world has changed rather than how Apple has.
Apple Inc our ballast!
I suppose that’s something.
Are we all this needy, not just the fanboys?
Please tell me no.
Please mean it.
If we are not at our best, by now, with all our stuff, when?
Fanboys, tech toys, and white noise the stuff of life? Are we being trolled? Is this my beautiful life?
