The second half of the second decade of the 21st century, still no moonbases, still no flying cars, barely a tricorder, but power-mad leaders launch chemical weapons, slaughter citizens of their own nation — by the millions — imprison those who think different, as coddled and vainglorious mobs, whom the 20th century labeled as “progressives,” stand atop their global soap box demanding bloody retribution against our ancient enemy, Russia, for “stealing” our election, war a better option in their narrow view than acceptance that their views are again shown to be on the wrong side of history, yet these craven beneficiaries of the establishment don’t dare fathom the idea of taking up arms themselves or have their children fight in any inevitable conflict, merely patting themselves on the back, their need to be constantly reminded that they are, in all ways, better than all others, more saintly, never to be fully sated.
What if there is a God but he doesn’t care?
Yesterday, democratically elected President Donald Trump launched a targeted strike against Syria, whose regime is directly supported by Russia.
We cannot know what will come of this.
The President spoke. Read.
“My fellow Americans, on Tuesday, Syrian dictator Bashar al Assad launched a horrible chemical weapons attack on innocent civilians….using a deadly nerve agent Assad choked out the lives of helpful men, women and children. it was a slow and brutal death for so many……even beautiful babies were cruelly murdered in this very barbaric attack. No child of God should ever suffer such horror……tonight I ordered a targeted military strike on the airfield in Syria from where the chemical attack was launched. It is in this vital……national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons. There can be …….no dispute that Syria used banned chemical weapons, violated its obligations under the chemical weapons convention and ignored……the urging of the UN Security Council. Years of previous attempts at changing Assad’s behavior have all failed and failed very……dramatically. As a result, the refugee crisis continues to deepen and the region continues to destabilize, threatening……the United States and its allies. Tonight I call on all civilized nations to join us in seeking to end the slaughter and bloodshed……in Syria and also to end terrorism of all kinds and all types. We ask for God’s wisdom as we face the challenge of our very troubled……world. We pray for the lives of the wounded and for the souls of those who have passed……and we hope that as long as America stands for justice then peace and harmony will, in the end, prevail……Goodnight and God bless America and the entire world. Thank you.”
A few words, and God mentioned multiple times.
“God bless America and the entire world.”
Probably, the president believes in God. Probably, the president believes in God and believes God involves himself in human affairs, likely even takes sides.
But what if this is wrong?
What if there is a God and God gives birth to all things and lets them all move and shift and change and love and fear and fight and betray and gloat and live and die and happenstance all on their own and within the confines of the universe he created?
There is no God.
There is a God and God cares.
There is a God and God does not care.
Choose one, any one, think on it, reject your choice, choose again, then again.
What is changed?
Whatever your choice, we humans should be further along than we are, better than we are, greater than we are, as one and as all.
The second half of the second decade of the 21st century and consumption remains a core aspiration, posturing and virtue signaling by insufferable do-nothings remains a common role, miserable jobs abound, fetish and perversion continue to fund chunks of our new economy, violence, war, hate thrive, there is a God, God is ready to care, but God won’t care until we are worthy of his care but we refuse.
That’s our choice.
