This was prompted by several thoughts, all competing, jumbling up against one another, vying for attention, longing to be resolved, mocking me with their outrageousness.
What is the most fantastical thing I believe could be true?
Answer: that there was other intelligent life across the cosmos but they each and all reached a technological level — one that we may similarly achieve within only the next 100 years — but it consumed them, destroyed them, eradicated any evidence of their existence.
What is the most fantastical role I can play in this life, in this world, that I could actually achieve.
Be Earth’s Moses.
To lead humans into the new world, the best of our humanity intact — along with our soul.
Because nothing is how it was or supposed to be.
Everything we now (or will soon) make is aware, sensing, responsive — alive. How are humans differently alive? How will these creations respond to us, alter us, liberate us, destroy us?
The thoughts continued to stumble out after these minor epiphanies.
There is a God.
God wants us to advance.
The Bible is a makers guide.
This guide inspires but cautions us.
Someone has to deliver this message.
Doesn’t it bother you that there are no signs of conscious life amongst the billions of known planets across the billions of known stars, billions of years older than ours?
Why is this?
Because they advanced themselves to their destruction. They became technological death. The end. That’s my theory.
And now it’s our turn.
As we alter our bodies, our minds, upend society, reconstruct perception and deconstruct all that came before, what becomes of our world, our humanness, our soul?
But if I’m right? If the Bible is a makers guide?
The amazingness of it.
It points us forward, revealing our potential, inspiring our technological development — and teaches how to wield our new god-like powers so that we may successfully leave this realm. Ignore its lessons and our creations destroy everything. Like all the others?
Consider how the many fantastical tales in the Bible, all its stories of divine powers and godly magic, are being made real by our technology. Virgin births, sound as a weapon, creating human organs from dust — literally — and soon, resurrection of life. Every mythical power in the Bible is being made real. How do we use these new technologies? Which do we refuse? The answer is there. Maybe other advanced civilizations abandoned its teaching, or whatever their Bible equivalent. Now they are erased from the universe.
I want to prove this. Yes, really.
Time is running out.
It started with Windows 95.
We are now in Year 22 of a 40-year (not 40 day) planet altering, life repurposing, technology infused deluge. A great flood of robotics, artificial intelligences, bio-coding, pharma-induced healing, the digitalization of perception, the merging of daily life into screens, unthinkable weaponry, and the connecting of all people to all things will transform all life on this planet. Or launch the end of it. We have a choice. There is a path forward.
I am your guide.
Told you it was fantastical.
