Something I’ve been harping on for some time is my fear that Apple — and Tim Cook — are willing to hand over much to the government of China in return for the government of China’s agreement to allow Apple to sell its high-margin iPhone in China.
Part of that handover? I fear it’s ‘backdoor’ capabilities. Something Apple won’t give the FBI to help fight crime or the NSA to help fight terrorism, but which I’m concerned they will give China, to suppress democracy.
Please let me be wrong about this.
We are all guilty of confirmation bias, I know, but this latest tweet from “the grugq” gives me pause:
With Taig and Pangu both releasing jailbreaks, it seems that China now has internal iOS exploitation capability. Ominous for cyber security.
