UPDATE:22 April 2010. I added one point to the Netflix rankings, adding an additional star in the ECOSYSTEM category. This moves Netflix from a total of 26 points to 27. Based on my proprietary algorithm, that means assured success.
I'm surprised everyone doesn't get Netflix. Plenty of popular content, reasonably priced, a slick (mostly late 20th century) recommendation engine and simplicity.
Vital in the new world is a thriving ecosystem and I must say, I almost hear only glowing positives about Netflix from users. Plus, their cheap plug-in Roku box makes it simple (for non-grandparent types) to instantly download that dvd to watch.
I put Netflix (including the Roku device) to the test with my Great Leveling algorithm. Will they re-make film distribution over the long-term? Can they survive once we all got the big pipes and get all our video from YouTube? Let's see the numbers...
