Is there an Internet Archives for apps?

Via Asymco, by way of 148 Apps, we learn that there'a about 326,000 apps available in Apple's App Store. There's another 65,000 give or take that are 'inactive'.

Where do these go? What happens to them?

I wonder if we should request that Apple donate them all, after, say, 5 years of inactivity, to the Internet Archives? Also, provide the tools so we can make these old apps work.
