Patrick Pichette, one of Google’s five most senior executives, has announced his retirement. His public resignation letter is rather touching:
Tamar and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary. When our kids are asked by their friends about the success of the longevity of our marriage, they simply joke that Tamar and I have spent so little time together that “it’s really too early to tell” if our marriage will in fact succeed.
It is not easy to do what these folks do.
To do it hour after hour, day after day, year after year, with a spouse at home and children growing up much too fast, it’s that much harder.
Maybe robots won’t replace our jobs but those of C-level executives.
